[accordion-item title=”Why is it so import to complete a DNA test in Pennsylvania?”]
Paternity testing is conducted to determine if a man is the biological father of an individual.
Therefore having a paternity test is a way of naming the father legally when the parents are not married. While there are several different ways to establish paternity, DNA testing is now the most accurate and popular method. In addition, a DNA paternity test is the only method admissible in Pennsylvania’ courts. If the father is unavailable, we prove the same relationship by testing a grandparent, a sibling, an aunt, or an uncle.
There are many reasons mothers and fathers choose to have a DNA paternity test in Pennsylvania. If parents are unmarried, paternity testing can resolve questions from curiosity to financial or legal disputes. Though you may be sure of the parentage of your child, state aid programs, insurance companies, and social security might have questions. Determining paternity also is necessary to give children access to family medical histories. This will be important when the child becomes enrolled in schools. Most school systems need information about potential genetic diseases from both the mother and the father’s families. Please note, you need to have a legal test performed to complete any state or federally related paperwork.
Maternity testing is conducted to determine if a woman is the biological mother of an individual.
This may seem redundant. However, in cases of closed adoption it could be needed to prove the identity of the biological mother. The benefits of doing so are the same as above.
What sets us apart from the competition?
We have well trained staff to help you make the decision that is best for you given your situation. Our case managers are certified for testing as are all of our in-lab technicians and mobile collectors. This ensures that the person you schedule your appointment with is just as knowledgable as the person completing the test.
Additionally, all of our employees take an oath of ethics requiring them to follow all HIPPA regulations as well as respect your privacy.
Through DNA testing, establishing paternity and/or creates a legal relationship between family members.
Completing a Court Approved DNA Test provides the following:
- A sense of belonging. The child will be able to know both sides of their family.
- Doctors will appreciate having for the mother and father’s medical history.
- If applicable, the child will be eligible for government benefits (social security or veteran’s dependent benefits) from both parents.
- The child can obtain medical insurance through either parent.
- Both parents can list the child as the beneficiary of life insurance policies, shareholdings, and/or other bank accounts.
- In the future, Colleges will grant financial aid based on both parents.
- Both parents get the right to see their child.
- Courts decide who gets to list the child as their dependent on taxes.
- Child support is available.
Because we establish paternity, etc. legally, Pennsylvania’s State government provides these benefits and more to the child. For more information, visit Pennsylvania State Department of Social and Health Services.
If the father or mother is unavailable, we can also test siblings, grandparents, aunts, or uncles for accurate results.
